{Book Review} "The Other Side of Infamy" by Jim Downing

Rating: 4/5

"I'll be with you in a minute, God." Jim Downing uttered those words more than once during his time serving in the United States Navy.

December 7, 1941 is an infamous date, especially for Jim Downing, who was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. The Other Side of Infamy tells Downing's inspiring life story. At 103 years old, he has certainly encountered a lot in his life, and he writes about it in a captivating manner. He writes about his childhood, how he came to be a Christian, experiencing the Pearl Harbor attack, his time in the Navy, and the lessons that God has taught him throughout his years.

One can't help but to admire Downing for his time serving in the Navy, but the most inspiring theme of Downing's life story is his complete reliance on God. Since becoming a Christian, the decisions he has made have been based on God's calling for his life, even when he didn't agree with what he was being called to do. The Other Side of Infamy is a story of a man whose life is an obvious testimony of God's amazing love. This is a captivating, inspiring read.

I received a copy of this book from Tyndale House in exchange for this honest review. All opinions are my own.
