{Book Review} "An Insider's Guide to Praying for the World" by Brian Stiller

Rating: 5

Brian Stiller's Insider's Guide to Praying for the World is exactly as the title suggests--it is a guide that allows Christians to read about specific ways to pray for over fifty countries. Each chapter is focused on one country or ministry. In each chapter, a very concise history of the country is given, and then Stiller provides a "dispatch" with specific details about the country's current state. These dispatches are written from Stiller's firsthand experience with the countries. He has visited these places throughout his life in ministry, and used his experiences in each country to write a summary of what he experienced there. Each chapter also features a list of detailed prayer requests for the countries, a Bible passage, and a sample prayer. The chapters are brief and to-the-point.

This book is organized into fifty-two chapters, which makes it ideal for a year long prayer journey. Readers can choose to focus on praying for one country a week for a whole year. The best part about the book is that all of the information comes from Stiller's personal accounts of each country. Instead of having to rely on the media to know what is going on around the world, Christians can turn to this guide to receive honest, current (as of January 2016) information about the true state of each of the fifty-two countries/ministries. When one of these countries is in the news, Christians can turn to this guide to know how to best pray for that place and the people living there. This book truly is an insider's guide on how to best pray for countries and people around the world.

Stiller has included an appendix that contains several journal pages where readers can record their thoughts on a country and jot down exactly how to pray for that country. He encourages readers to keep a prayer journal in anyway that works for them, and the pages included in the appendix are a nice format to follow.

Pick up this guide and start praying your way around the world!

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for this honest review.
